Graduating from Cass Technical High School in 2005, Brian Raynard Nickson briefly attended the College for Creative Studies and Eastern Michigan University before stepping away from formal academics. He spent years working on Chrysler's automotive manufacturing line — a quintessential Detroit path — but his passion for artistic expression never dimmed.
In 2017, Nickson made a life-changing decision: he walked away from his steady automotive job to dedicate himself entirely to art. That leap paid off. Within three years, his painting "Wine Fine" was published in the New York Times and featured in FX's critically acclaimed comedy series Better Things.
